About the event

Playland Equestrian Center is excited to offer Equestrian Horsemanship knowledge and skills in a 13 week class series on select Saturdays starting on February 11, 2023 at 1:30 to 3:30!

 

These clases will help you develop the confidence and know how skill sets to safely handle, care, and show your horse or pony!  Covering everything from grooming to show prep, stable management, horse parts and conformation, health care from diseases, vaccines to lamenesses,  vital signs, riding etiquette, trailer safety and so much more!  These classes will be unmounted, fun, educational, and hands on!  

This series will be taught by Megan Scocco, assistant at Playland Equestrian Center. Megan has over a decade of experience in the horse world. She earned degrees in Equestrian Business Management and Equine Studies. Megan values the physical and mental well-being of horses, and she strives to meet their individual needs. During the 13-week program, Glenda will teach classes occasionally.

Each class will be sold as a separate ticket for $40 each. Purchase all 13 classes for $520 and get 50% off the corresponding online course with PDF files. Please note: ticket sales for each class date will close the Wednesday before that class. The 13 Class Ticket sale will close on February 8th.

Class 2: Sat. Feb 18th 1:30- 3:30; Colors and markings and breeds

Class 3: Sat. Feb 25th th 1:30-3:30; Parts of the horse and hoof

Class 4: Sat. Mar 4th 1:30- 3:30;  Basic conformation

Class 5: Sat. Mar 11th 1:30- 3:30;  Tack & equipment, cleaning & care, review parts of

horse, parts of saddle & tack, different types of tack & basic bits, basic fitting of tack

Class 6: Sat. Mar 18th 1:30-3:30; (Part 1) Pony care & management, stable management, safe

stable practices, blanketing

Class 7: Sat. Mar 25th 1:30-3:30; (Part 2) Clipping, cooling out, cleaning stalls, hay nets, vices,

what horses eat & basic feeding, height & weight 

Class 8: Sat. April 1st 1:30-3:30; (Part 3) Pony care & management, stable management, safe

stable practices, blanketing, clipping, cooling out, cleaning stalls, hay nets, vices,

what horses eat & basic feeding, height & weight 

Class 9: Sat. April 22nd 1:30-3:30; (Part 1) Basic health care knowledge, vitals, signs

of distress, when to call vet, routine vet care (deworming, vaccines), what is

lameness

Class 10: Sat. April 29th 1:30-3:30; (Part 2) Basic health care knowledge, vitals, signs

of distress, when to call vet, routine vet care (deworming, vaccines) what is

lameness

Class 11: Sat. May 6th 1:30- 3:30; (Part 3) Basic health care knowledge, vitals, signs of

distress, when to call vet, routine vet care (deworming, vaccines) what is lameness

Class 12: Sat. May 13th 1:30- 3:30; (Part 1) Riding & show disciplines, warm up

etiquette, defining terms, showing & show prep, dress & turnout, bathing, braiding

(include terms in the hole, on deck, arena rules and right of way)

Class 13: Sat. May 20th 1:30- 3:30; (Part 2) Riding & show disciplines, warm up

etiquette, defining terms, showing & show prep, dress & turnout, bathing, braiding, trailering, travel safety, loading/unloading practice, review tying at trailer
