About Glenda

Glenda was raised from birth on Playland Farm LLC, and has been riding since childhood. She has focused her riding in the dressage, show-jumping, and eventing disciplines. As a young rider, she actively participated as a member of the Frederick Pony club, until she graduated as a 'B' pony clubber. During her time in pony club, she twice competed in Championships: once in 1999 in eventing at the novice level, and in 2000 in Show jumping in the modified division; where she was proud to represent the capital region in bringing home first place with her team. In her later years in pony club, she focused much of her time on teaching. She became active in the Visiting Instructor program, where she got the opportunity to teach all over the United States! She has taught everywhere from Alaska to California to Pennsylvania to South Carolina. She is still active as a volunteer and supporter of the local pony clubs. She also spent many of her teenage years as a working student for various professionals in the equine industry.

At the age of 17 she took her first lesson with Wendy Murdoch. From there on, she has worked with Wendy every opportunity she received. In 2002, she completed the Centered Riding Instructor Level 1 with Wendy Murdoch. In 2003, she took another Centered Riding Instructor update clinic with Wendy Murdoch. In 2004, she completed Don Doran's Equine Sports Massage certification. Later in 2004 she completed Don Doran's Equine Acupoint Therapy & Tui-Na Course. She also attended a workshop with Dr. Hilary Clayton on The Anatomy, Conformation, and Gaits of horses in 2004. In 2005, she graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor degree in Equine Science. Later in 2005, she attended Dr. Joyce Harman's saddle fit workshop. In 2006, she was introduced to the TTEAM method thru Wendy, and attended two TTEAM workshops. Her first workshop taught by Linda Tellington Jones was in the spring of 2006 in Virginia. She was so amazed by this "new" method of training that she immediately decided to attend another clinic! In the summer of 2006 she attended a "Starting young horses thru TTEAM" workshop in Wyoming also taught by Linda Tellington Jones. In 2006, with much encouragement from Wendy, she left the United States to teach in Australia and New Zealand. While in Australia she spent time apprenticing for Olympic event rider, Tarsha Hammond and 2007 World Games Event competitor: Megan Jones. She came home to her Maryland based farm in spring of 2007 with a new found energy and devotion to her life long passion of horses! She currently resides on the farm in Frederick, Maryland, where she manages Playland Farm LLC. Glenda is devoted to continuing her education, and therefore regularly attends lessons and private clinics. She also attended an instructor clinic with Wendy Murdoch in October of 2007!

Her current focus is on the training program of Playland Farm LLC's horses. She uses her background in pony club, Centered Riding, and TTEAM to train the horses at Playland Farm LLC. It is her use of these training methods, as well as selective breeding of top bloodlines that enables Playland Farm LLC to produce top quality horses. She actively competes and trains Playland's young horses with an emphasis towards dressage, show jumping, and eventing. She is excited to now be able to offer training to select (non-Playland bred) horses thru a variety of training packages.

In addition to her extensive equine education, Glenda is also an experienced effective instructor. She has taught throughout the United States, and in both Australia and New Zealand. She uses her background in Centered Riding and pony club to clearly communicate with students of all ages and needs. She teaches riders 'how' to ride, not just 'what to do.' Her way of teaching ensures that the student is able to go home and ride their horse producing the same results as in the lessons. In other words, she teaches your body new muscle memory. She does this by working thru old habitual patterns. Throughout this process the student gains more body awareness, and learns the pathway in which their anatomy can keep them balanced while in motion (and at the same time increase the horse's level of training)! Glenda is currently able to offer lessons at Playland Farm LLC on farm horses or your horse (Yes, trailer-ins are welcome.). She is excited to be able to open the stables to her students thru a variety of lesson packages. Glenda's dream is to create a stable that is devoted to the health and wellness of the horse and rider thru employing a balance of eastern and western health care coupled with training methods that produce harmony and happiness between both the horse and rider. Glenda is very excited to currently be able to offer a working student program for those who would like to devote their time to their horse.
